I WANT TO START OFF EASY, SO IM GOING TO GO TO THE HURON TRAIL AND START AT THE SAND LAKE TRAILHEAD. IM HOPING TO RIDE TO DESI'S FUEL UP, EAT AND HEAD BACK. JUST A NICE EASY RIDE. IM LOOKING FOR PARENTS WITH YOUNGER, CERTIFIED KIDS TO COME ALONG.

Tim,
How long of ride do you think you will be taking? I got both of my boys certified last summer and want to take them on the trails. They have never been on the trails and since they are both under 12 ride bikes. Give me your thoughts and maybe this would be doable. If not both at least the older one.

the whole day should not take anymore than 6 hours of riding i'd say. im starting pretty much mid-way thru the system. the huron trail is wide like a road the whole way, and pretty much a very loose sand. with kids going, and a few their fist time out like mine and yours, there will be alot of stopping im sure. so, in a sense, i guess however long it takes. i don't want to whip them to bad forst time out. just enough to make her sleepon the way home:)

Hmmm. I really want to do this but the "very loose sand" concerns me a bit since both boys will be on bikes. I don't want to discourage them their first time out.

Have you guys have time to get Shaunna certified? I told my boys about a possible ride and now they are bugging me every day.
Would it be possible to do a Friday ride? I have every Friday in June open except for the 13th. Which I am not sure I would want to ride on that day anyway. As for weekends the only June dates I have available are the 21st Sat. only and the 28th, 29th.
Let me know if we are thinking of making this happen.

WE WENT TO CABELA'S AND TOOK OUR TRAINING ON SUNDAY. OUT OF 50 QUESTIONS, I GOT 2 WRONG AND SHE GOT 4 WRONG. WE BOTH PASSED....
FRIDAY MIGHT BE DOABLE YES, ALTHOUGH I WOULD HAVE TO CHECK MY THE CALENDER AT WORK FOR OTHERS VACATION TIME AS WELL. I WILL PROBABLY SIT DOWN AND GET THIS RIDE SET IN STONE AFTER THE BIG RIDE.

I know my kids were excited the first time they got to ride the trails. Something they will never forget. Have fun Chris

My son is only 14 months old at the moment - I don't want him to grow up to fast, but on the otherhand, I cant wait to get him outfitted with a sweet little machine and all the accessories. ... premature I know ....

Tim, did you know that the DNR's own 50 question ORV safety Education test has 3 of their OWN questions answered wrong? Its possible that the two questions you answered wrong were 2 of the questions the DNR got wrong on their own test.
