Will be closed indefinitely, seems the contractors broke a bearing and no one knows how to repair it. So if you’re heading north this summer look for $5 a gal for gas and road construction all over the place.

this is what i found.
The state agency suspended a $3.3 million expansion bearing replacement project on the bridge in April after Williamston-based Midwest Bridge Co. workers cut reinforced steel bars buried in concrete. Officials say original construction plans did not show the bars. If the bridge remains closed Friday, July 4, officials say they will spend $500,000 on a cross-over to divert northbound traffic into the bridge's southbound lanes just north of M-81. The southbound traffic would detour to the south lanes of I-675.
The concrete bridge opened Dec. 23, 1987, four years behind schedule and $44 million over budget.
During construction in 1982, a 300-foot section overloaded with construction equipment sagged five feet and nearly fell into the river. In spring 1987, a state Senate panel convened hearings into the span's safety because of small surface cracks. Officials determined the bridge was safe.
The span replaced a drawbridge that typically raised more than 300 times a year, causing gridlock for miles.
