I was thinking of skid plates for my Outlander. Any suggestions on what type to get or more importantly, what types/brands to stay away from?

Yes. I am thinking that I should do something to protect the underside. Have you installed them before? Are they easy to put on? As you know, I am not the most mechanically inclined individual when it comes to working on my machine.

I may take you up on that offer Tim. I want to get the skid plates prior to my next ride. I can put the quad in the back of the truck and drive over to your place. Are you going to be able to go on a ride at the end of October?

Why is it when I am searching for skid plates, I find that most places only offer them for sport quads? Are they really not necessary on a utility quad?

It does not look like Aluminum Products carries or makes the skid plates for an Outlander. According to their website, they only carry them for the Renegade. I will keep looking. Hopefully, I can find some for a pretty good price.
