New software is looking pretty good.
Am just trying it at moment.
It has a wiki section, so we can make a wiki of Offroad info, has a forum, blog section, store, as well as article publishing section.
All uses the same user name, is secure, stable, and expandable. It can host several sites, and is very tailorable.
Almost have the business model done to self sustain it, and now trying to get it so it generates value for advertising to create additional revenue. Want to keep it free to users, no donations, free. Also want to promote good threads into articles that can be featured as well as printed and wiki-ed. If an article gets featured, the prime author would be eligible for advertising revenue, like residuals. If a collaboration is done, then divide revenue amongst participants.
Will be posting a basic version online shortly
The key to success is generating valuable content. Make users want to come, make advertisers want to come, become the info source for offroading/outdoor activities for mi.

Tim, As soon as I put in on my public server, you will be given free reign to play. The way both solutions are configured, all the data is stored separately from the look and feel.
Getting the back-end right is the stuff I am worried about (as well as business model) Getting the look and feel down right is what I think you want to do, if wrong, correct me.
Currently am torn between two programs, one by microsoft based on sharepoint and the other by expression engine. I own both, but am trying to get microsoft to fund the first year if we choose their software. I can't post it on a public server until I get the agreements in place.

What i would like to personally. And this is just my opinion. I am really liking the new look of websites and their buttons and themes etc.
Button, icons, avatars, themes and sharp and to the point. I am seeing a lot of site getting away from cartoon type buttons and themes.
Easy to read eye catching themes, for me any ways are starting to be a big hit, again, with me. I will surf a site, and take a screen shot to show what i mean....BRB

Yeah, i checked out that Website. That has some pretty cool stuff on it. After surfing so many websites lately for new APPS for the storm, and seeing how buttons and such are changing so much, i am a little jealous of the art work that is out there.
Myself, playing with Photoshop, i need to get away from cartoon type looks and headed in to the more Metal with shades type look. That sort of stuff. You can have a cartoon type button, but make it feel more 2010 than Pacman .....LOL

Like my tree logo above. Not the best, but sharper than the last. meaning easier for the eye to look at and it sticks out.

am searching for catchy new name for portal. I like Michiganoffroadmagazine and may use it as the long name, but general rule is that names of sites need to be short and memorable. While Michiganoffroadmagaine is memorable, it isn't short. So checked these short names that are available Mi-offroad.com Mi-atv.com.com out4mifun.com exploremi.com explore-mi.com(with hyphen can expand to many more states, ie explore-pa, explore-co....) Mi-trails.com so tell me what you think I like the name "The Trailhead" it could include all the sports Tim wants to include & it's quick clean and simple... my 02
