OK, am close to abandoning the old ATVOC. Been getting PMed and called up the wazoo by the holnists.
I have servers on the public internet, and am currently looking at acquiring some Forum software and already own portal software. I can host DNS names.
Looking at having the site being an E-zine, that also publishes a newsletter, as well as youtube videos, with a forum community behind it.
Purpose of the forum will initially be offroad related, but may expand if it grows enough revenue to do more than sustain.
Trying to go more upscale than the old site.
Look at forming the entity as an LLC, but not a non-profit based entity.
Funds would be collected to support it similar to Michigan snowmobile association, from dealers as well as from sponsors.
No dues would be collected from users, unless we sought insurance for ride events.
Excess funds would be channeled to "lobbyists" in the government, to trail maintenance, and to education. If becomes sufficient enough would look at paying someone to perform functions.
Am just sharing strawman, as typing this on iphone is too much fun.
If anyone is interested, leave your mark. If anyone opposes, tell me to go back to Rogue River.

Didn't take long at all.
Tom,
Am looking for the site to provide information and be the essential clearing house for offroad data.
trail info, local ordinances, safety info reader reviews if trails, trail issue reporting articles about offroad vehicles, gear, etc Hotel and campground ratings howto stuff
Would like to find reps in each municipality that a trail exists to be active on the site.
Trail ratings and such would be semi moderated to keep posts civil and to the point.
Articles would be selected from the website and published for flyers
Videos would be hosted and posted on youtube
Make the site the come-to site for all offroad stuff, from riding to I've got a new toy, how do I use it.

Mike,
I have four trailheads less then 30 min drive all around me, plus I travel the northeast section of Michigan for work, not sure you have seen some of my winter trailhead photos but in the past I have tried to do just that. I wrote most of the trailhead directions for that other place and have posted photos of trailheads for years.
Here is just some of my OLD work! If this is what your looking for be glad to help.
Years ago SpongeTom created all this info you see below. Having spent so many hours I thought it would get lost in the old site. I found a way to retrieve it for now until were able to add it to the new and improved site. Thanks Tom I’m sure this will be helpful to quite a few people
Leota Trail & Trailhead
As with the Gladwin trail system the Leota Trails is another one of the popular ones. Its location to the major metropolitan areas keeps Leota hopping on the weekends, it varying terrain can be challenging yet easy for the beginners, I guess you could say it has little for everyone. With the new county ordinances going into affect this year (1/1/05) you riders can now go from this trailhead all the way to the city of McKinley in the Bull Gap system, and yes we even have legal gas stops along the way. One of the most favorite spots on the west side of the Jonesville Bridge is Look Out Point. This trail system has number posts along the way with laminated trail maps at each post, which makes it hard to get lost here. The east side or the trailhead side is where you can connect with numerous other trails, one of my favorite rides is to head out toward the east and complete the Denton loop and head back, for this you will need some gas just in case. All in all Leota is a well maintained, fun for the whole family places to ride.
From I-75 & US 127
I-75 to the US 10 West exit, staying on US 10 to where it merges with US 127 north.
You will now be on US127 north, continuing north on US127 to the Harrison exit also named the M-61 exit.
At the bottom of the ramp turn right back under the expressway, this is M-61 west.
You’ll past a Burger King keep going the road will turn to the north and into town.
At the first stop light (which is approximately 3 miles form the from the bottom of the ramp) stay left and turn left following M-61 back west again.
Stay on M-61 west for approximately 3 ½ miles to Old Sate Ave, there will be a sign on M-61 pointing to the trailhead. Turn right or north on to Old Sate Ave to the stop sign in Leota from M-61 to this stop sign it’s approximately 9 miles.
At the stop sign turn right for around 2 miles the trailhead road will be on the left and there is a sign point toward it, the road up is around ¾ of a mile and dead ends right at the trailhead.
If you have any questions drop me an e-mail and I’ll try and help.

Turn onto trailhead rd 44 08 722 84 51 242
Trailhead 44 09 198 84 51 523
There are five designated Trailheads for the HURON TRAIL System, check the link below for a copy of the DNR map you can also print this map or their available at most of the DNR field offices and the US Forest Service Office in Mio. All the Trailheads are basically easy to find with these directions but the DNR map will definitely come in handy. This is one of the few trails in the Lower Peninsula with access to gas and food right off the trail. On the DNR map check out the Foote Dam Site Village, a small town with the gas/food. This is a beautiful section of Michigan a ride up M-65 to the Au Sable River is worth the trip.
Sand lake Trailhead & Parking lot From M-55 At the corner of M-55 and Sand Lake Rd head north approximately 2.7 miles, you’ll be at the corner of Sand Lake Rd and Indian Lake Roads there is a small party store on the South west corner, turn left on to Indian Lake Rd and follow it around the lake till the stop sign. At this stop sign (it's a "T") Vaughn Rd goes to the to the left and Indian Lake rd head off to the right, turn left on to Vaught Rd for ½ mile to the Trailhead. It will be on your right like I said just over ½ up. There are a number of gas stations on M-55, if you need help finding M-55 and Sand lake Rd drop me E-mail be glad to help. By the way this is a new parking lot 10/03 with an outhouse and good parking.
GPS info: Sand Lake Trailhead 44 20.4244 83 41.0589
Rollways Trailhead & Parking lot From The City of Hale and M-65
At the light in the center of Hale head north approximately 7 miles to Rollway Road, turn left on to Rollway road and the Trailhead parking lot will be on the left. This is perhaps the most obscure trailhead parking lot I’ve come across, you need to park between the canoe livery and M-65. Make sure your not blocking the Livery’s parking area, there aren't any signs marking the Trailhead but it will make sense once you arrive. Don’t park in front of the wood fence that look like a trailhead lot, those in fact belongs to the livery, park on the grass to the east. Once your parked you can see the trail markers that lead to the trail system. In the winter months the Livery is closed and not a big deal where you park but try and stay to the east of the wood fence it is private property. Resist the temptation to ride across the street to the outhouses on US Forest land with your machine PLEASE. This is for the day campers, you can walk over and use them and see the river below and even walk down to it, also there’s no parking there for trailers.
GPS info: Rollways Parking lot 44 27.4343 83 46.3973
Liberty Road Trailhead & Parking lot From The city of Hale & M-65 & Wickert Rd
At the light in the center of Hale head north approximately 5 miles to the F.O.E. hall the road here will start to curve to the right, go around the curve and you’ll see Wickert road on the left, turn left on to Wickert. From here you’ll be traveling west for approximately 3 miles to Liberty Rd, take Liberty ¼ mile to the Trailhead on the right. There is an outhouse the lot is small but not very used. If your camping at Rifle River State Park check the map but you can head east out of the park up and around the lake to Wicket Rd.
GPS info: Liberty Rd lot 44 27.1977 83 51.6196
River Road Trailheads & Parking Lots US23 & River Road (2 lots)
I’m not sure how to label these last two Trailheads mainly because they’re both off River Road. I’ll call the first one, which is closer to Oscoda and on Grass Rd, the “Grass Road Trailhead”, again, a very easy Trailhead to locate and because of its location to Oscoda I’ll bring you in this way. By the way these direction should work form whichever direction you heading as long as you use them with the DNR map or a good county road map. From the stop light in Oscoda as listed above take River Rd out of town, Grass Rd is approximately 1.6 mile from this light you’ll be turning left (south) on Grass Rd for ½ mile to the Trailhead. Be careful Grass Rd comes up fast and there are no signs on River Rd for Trailhead, this is a new Trailhead with an outhouse, new sign post maker and new wooden fence. If your planning a trip this trailhead could be an ideal starting point, with Tawas and Oscoda just down the road and all the beauty that is the Au Sable river valley you can’t go wrong here.
The other River Rd Trailhead (West) is approximately 14 miles from that same light in Oscoda, the direction are the same just keep driving passed Grass Rd to the Trailhead, I have listed the GPS info below for both Trailheads. This Trailhead is right on River Rd and there are good signs in both directions to help you locate the lot. This lot also has an outhouse and appears to have been redone recently, I couldn’t get into the lot because of the snow. (2/04)
GPS DATA: Stop Light in Oscoda 44 25.2121------ 83 19.8145 Grass Rd Trailhead 44 25.0386--------83 21.6633 River Rd west Trailhead 44 26.2588-----83 35.2791
Foote Dam Site Village, your gas and food stop on the Huron Trail System is between the two River Road trailheads and is well marked for the turn on the trail. You can leave your machine next to the fire hall and walk to the local restaurants, which is just east of the Dam Store, the gas station is right across from the Fire Hall. Your supposed to walk your machine across the street to the station and gas up and then walk back over just. Please don’t block the fire hall doors. The locals have told me it’s ok to park your vehicle and trailers and ride from there again leave room for others and the fire trucks.
Foote Dam Store GPS data: 44 25.7339 ---- 83 26.7877
This is a funny trail system in the winter if you look at the signs some sections are open to 4 wheelers and some are closed and then again some are closed when the snow is over 4”. Jeff V. and I where looking the signs over this past spring and were still not sure, I would check with the US Forest office in Oscoda if your planning a winter ride to be on the safe side. I hope this helps you have a fun and safe ride if I can help with any other detail drop me E-mail. If you do ride in the snow keep both eyes out for snowmachines. __________________

Ok, So I was thinking of joining the 'other' club after lurking there for a few years now. But it seems in the last 2-3 months a falling out has occurred with some of the members. Not being a member I don't know what happened or why.
But should I be staying away and continue to just lurke? I just joined here so hopefully I can learn more and hopefully meet some of you and go riding.
I know I've talked with Tooltime through PM as he works where I live and has offered up riding if a plan is set.
Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike, Nobody here is going to tell you not to join that club or even not go there to look around and/or join them or any of there events. There are a ton of great folks there, I have a lot of friends there and so does a lot of folks who come here. Nobody here is going to, nor does now, hold anybodys hand and tell them where to and where not to go. One should go where they fell more comfortable and amongst friends and/or friendly strangers!!!!
Hope to meet you soon.
