If you haven’t been up the M-65 corridor from Hale to Glennie your missing some of Michigan best beauty, here you will find Deep Woods, a world class river system, and some great overlooks.
The M-65 route has it all, there are a number of ORV trails, very good places to eat and nice places to sleep along the route. State Forest camp ground dot and route with some secluded camp grounds that most of the year are half empty.
The Au Sable river runs down from its head waters in Grayling to the mouth in Oscoda, if you jump off M-65 at River road, which is just past the ORV trailhead on M-65 it will take you all the way to the town. Oscoda is also a nice place to visit. Along river Rd you will find a number of scenic overlooks some of which are just breathtaking along with a long walks down to the river bed.
My wife I take the trip at least one a year and stay in the area, I’m lucky that along M-65 I have a number of tower sites so I get to enjoy the scenic beauty all year.
I highly recommend this trip, and like I aid don’t forget your machines you can now ride from Oscoda to Rose City, please make sure you know the route before taking any black top roads.
