I have a '04 Sportsman 500 with a 48" Glacier Plow. The plow system has a mounting plate that stays bolted on year round. I suspect that it's covering up my Front Gearcase Drain Hole - can anybody confirm this? I've looked extensively, but can't see anywhere else the gearcase is drained.

Tell me this is the machine a 2004 or 2004 & 1/2 ??
the 2004 1/2 has the Centralized Hilliard clutch, no external hubs.
The 1/2 year that year is when they made the change.

Either way yes the mount does in fact covers wither the Front gear case or the CH Clutch.
I don’t leave my plow mount on I take it off in the spring and that put it back on late fall.
As you know it’s only 4 bolts and 1 jack stand.

Great plow system, VERY easy to use I keep the plow on all winter unless I'm riding (not to much in the winter) but the plow is so easy to remove and install.

Yep. I sure like mine. It's a breeze to get hooked up. I have the mini winch lift kit that Polaris makes and so far it seems to be OK. The mini winch sits on the plow and pulls on the front rack as the stationary point - so far - no problems with that.
I usually leave the mounting plate on year round - cause it's not really in the way - but it makes it difficult to change the fluid in the front gear case. Oh - in response - it's a 2004 - not 4.5

If you have any more questions please ask, I've had Polaris's for 10 years, I think I know a little something but just a little.
